I painted this painting right before Tisha Ba’Av.

I used the color red very consciously because when I think of Kever Rochel, I think of all the pain and blood that has been spilled while we are in Gallus. Though spiritually uplifting, Kever Rochel also reminds me of all the pain we have gone through for thousands of years.

Rochel’s tefillah was answered because she cared so much for her sister. She would not let her be embarrassed and to prevent that was willing to condemn herself to marry a rasha and forfeit her future in klal yisroel. It reminds me how important every person is, and to what lengths we have to go to care for, and protect our Jewish family.
